– New Mexico Governor Michelle Grisham suspended laws allowing the carrying of firearms in Albuquerque for 30 days during a declared public health emergency.
-The Supreme Court’s Bruen decision in June of the previous year indicates that governors cannot restrict firearms in this way.
-Grisham’s ban inadvertently made the Second Amendment stronger in New Mexico, as opposition to her order reinforced the sanctuary movement.
As many of you know, over the weekend, the constitutionally illiterate governor of New Mexico, a woke Democrat named Michelle Grisham, suspended laws that allow open and concealed carry of firearms in Albuquerque for 30 days after declaring a public health emergency. When confronted with the blatantly unconstitutionality of such a ban, the governor said this:

No constitutional right is absolute. Your constitutional rights, according to this governor, are dependent on whether she allows you to exercise them. It’s as if she had no idea about the Bruen decision that the Supreme Court handed down in June of last year. The Bruen Decision involved the state of New York where officials tried to require gun owners to show quote “proper cause” to get a license to carry a concealed handgun outside the home. The 2nd amendment clearly states that American citizens have the right to bear arms, we have a constitutional right to carry guns. But the Democrat monopoly in New York didn’t think so. So the Supreme Court stepped in and, in a 6 to 3 ruling, struck down the law as blatantly unconstitutional.
The court agreed that the only person, according to the 2nd Amendment, who should decide what the proper cause is for carrying a concealed weapon is the person carrying it. That is what ‘shall not be infringed’ means. The Bruen decision has been freaking out liberals ever since because it is officially overturning all of these lower court decisions that were upholding restrictive permit requirements for concealed gun carry. That is all falling apart now, even in the bluest states. The Bruen decision destroyed any hope this executive order could ever have of being upheld.
The glorious irony with this nut governor’s Second Amendment ban is that she turned New Mexico into a statewide Second Amendment sanctuary. The Albuquerque DA’s office is saying openly they are not going to enforce the Governor’s executive order. And several New Mexico sheriffs are coming out and saying they are not going to enforce it either. Here’s the Bernalillo County sheriff refusing to comply:

Over the weekend we saw protestors in Old Town Albuquerque open carrying their firearms, and no police officer there arrested them or confiscated their weapons. The vast majority of New Mexico’s counties have already declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries. They did so a couple of years back when their far-left state government started threatening gun ownership. 18 of the state’s 33 counties have passed resolutions saying they won’t enforce gun control bills being considered in the woke New Mexico legislature. 29 of the state’s 33 sheriffs signed a letter saying they won’t enforce any legislation being considered that violates the Second Amendment.
That was already in place before this nut governor issued this Second Amendment ban. Now with the state DA’s office saying openly they’re not going to enforce her ban, in a twist of irony, Grisham’s impulsive woke idiocy only ended up turning the whole of the state of New Mexico into a Second Amendment sanctuary. She tried to ban the Second Amendment, and in doing so, she ended up making the Second Amendment stronger than ever!
