President Trump Enters Final Phase of Hush Money Witch Hunt

Since April, Former President Donald Trump has been embroiled in a controversial Hush Money lawsuit involving former adult actress Stormy Daniels. After over 4 weeks of intense trials and debates, closing arguments finally begin today. For context, President Trump is “facing 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment to adult film actor Stormy Daniels to keep silent about an alleged affair with Trump,” said NBC News.

Last week, the prosecution brought forth presumed star witness Michael Cohen, who failed to deliver. Cohen was perceived as a questionable witness given his history of falsehoods (and his own conviction). His testimony included many conflicting pieces of information, namely his own fabrications and his compulsion to destroy the former President.

Trump attorney Todd Blanche produced a text from before the call that Cohen sent to bodyguard Keith Schiller, who was with Trump at the time, in which Cohen said he wanted help dealing with a 14-year-old who was prank calling him,” stated CNN news. Cohen indicated the call was about the Daniels situation, though there is no indication of this truth. It is entirely possible Cohen lied, invalidating other aspects of his testimony.

Today, the President’s defense team is determined to convince the jury of 12 Manhattanites that Cohen’s witness is entirely false, thus invalidating the prosecution’s case. Trump lawyer Todd Blanche continues to hammer the notion that the case is exclusively based on ledger reports, and whether the president intended to falsify them.

Outside the courthouse, actor Robert De Niro gave a speech decrying the former president, stating that he will never leave the White House if Trump is elected. De Niro, however, was insulted and drowned out by angry Trump supporters.

This entire trial demonstrates the two-fold nature of our political system. While the Biden’s continue to avoid prosecution for their mishandling of classified materials, President Trump is hunted to the fullest extent of the law. As the closing arguments conclude, we can only hope that the jury comes to its sensibilities and sides in favor of the defense.
