News of Chick-Fil-A hiring a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion VP emerged recently, with many conservatives outraged over what this may mean. The company has a lot of history of being against the LGBTQ+ movement and being pro-Christian. The company is famous for being closed on Sundays and playing instrumental Christian music in its stores. It began circulating earlier this week that Chick-Fil-A appears to be increasing its efforts to be more inclusive.
In 2012, then-CEO Dan Cathy shared his views affirming traditional marriage which offended many liberals. Some liberals have boycotted Chick-Fil-A over their biblical foundation and the CEO’s biblical view of marriage, while many conservatives have felt even happier to support this company. Chick-Fil-A’s website defines its Purpose as a company: “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.”
Chick-Fil-A has been known to donate to Christian organizations which are linked to causes against LGBTQ+ activism. The CEO has stopped donating to many of these organizations that drew criticism over the past several years. Now, this company has a VP of DEI. However, they have not posted anything pro-LGBTQ+ activism, unlike many other chain restaurants. Much of the conservative backlash seems to be coming from another resurfaced video exposing the CEO for racist comments.
Chick-fil-A has been going downhill ever since Samuel Cathy passed.

This kind of speech is very alarming and it shows the character and beliefs of the person who is in charge of this company. Many conservatives have commented on the shift in the company since the founder, Samuel Cathy, passed and the company was then run by his son who proudly shared his inappropriate and racist beliefs.
This boycott does not seem to be gaining as much traction as the Bud Light and Target boycotts as many conservatives do not believe that hiring a DE&I Executive is a strong enough reason alone for a boycott. Many conservatives are waiting to see the company’s next moves. Several have pointed out that this new DE&I official will have a say in which applicants can open new franchises, which could lead to applicants that will push leftist ideologies that earn good ESG scores with similar tactics that have led to other boycotts.
PREDICTION: This will be the downfall of Chick-fil-a.
But it will NOT be bc of right-wing boycotts.
It will be bc Erick McReynolds, the VP of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion division now has input on which applicants receive a franchise and which do not.

It is unlikely that conservatives will support Chick-Fil-A if it begins aligning publicly with LGBTQ+ propaganda. Companies are beginning to learn that conservatives do not want to see messages that oppose their views while doing normal things like shopping or going out to eat. Chick-Fil-A may likely lose the hype surrounding its products if many locations or the company HQ begins aligning with liberal views.
