The first midterm results have arrived, and I'm thrilled to announce that the Republicans have made their first flip! For the first time in eight years, Guam, a U.S. island territory traditionally leaning blue, has elected a Republican governor. Tony Ada defeated Democrat Therese Terlaje with a 51 to 48 percent victory. This seismic shift in Guam politics has not gone unnoticed. President Trump wasted no time in celebrating this unexpected win, declaring, "Guam, which has always been considered strongly Democrat, just had an early call for a REPUBLICAN Victory in the top spot, Governor — Congratulations to Tony Ada! Also, the Republicans have the Majority in the State Senate. Wow, hopefully that’s an indication for things to come!"

Now, Guam may not be a perfect bellwether, but our good friend Seth Keshel pointed out that Trump's performance in Guam during 2024 hinted at his growing appeal among non-white voters. This demographic shift is crucial, especially as Republicans seek to capitalize on Trump's gains with Latino and other non-white voters. Early voting data from key states is also promising. In Florida, the election day is a sea of red, with every county except three showing Republican dominance. Florida's turnout is even outpacing 2024's overall election turnout, boasting a plus-9 redder margin. Despite lagging in early votes, Florida Republicans are making a powerful comeback on election day.
As it stands, the GOP leads by over 481,000 votes out of 6.9 million cast. A 500,000 vote lead is the magic number to seal the deal in Florida, and they're just shy of that at 19,000 votes. So far, one out of every two voters on election day in Florida is Republican. Democrats and Independents together don't even make up half the vote. Conservatively, this could mean a 5-point win for the Republicans and possibly as high as a 10-point win in the Senate. Now, on to the Lone Star State — Texas! The anticipation is high, and the latest updates are encouraging.
Texas, unlike Florida, doesn't break down voter registration by party, but turnout numbers speak volumes turnout numbers. Take Montgomery County, a pro-Trump area that voted for him by over 40 points. Turnout there is already over 50 percent of their 2024 election day turnout by midday. Hour-by-hour comparisons show increases over their 2024 presidential election turnout increases. Montgomery seems to be a bellwether for other super-red counties in Texas. Ellis County, another Trump stronghold, has reached 75 percent of its busiest early-voting day and continues to exceed previous records.
Five Republican counties in Texas have already surpassed their 2024 presidential totals, voting at levels beyond a presidential election beyond a presidential election. We are halfway through election day, with the afternoon and early evening still ahead. This is no time for complacency. We must continue the momentum, so if you haven't voted yet, get to the polls and bring your friends and family.
