Another Democrat SWITCHES to the GOP!

Today we are seeing another Democrat defecting to the Republican Party. Kleberg County Attorney Kira Talip Sanchez has officially announced that she has become a Republican after having served as a Democrat for the last 8 years.

– Democratic county official Sanchez switches to the Republican Party, citing the GOP’s law and order stance and alignment with citizens’ values.

– Latino voters in Southern Texas increasingly favor the Republican Party, demonstrated by victories in mayoral races and Texas House seats.

– The Republican Party is evolving into an anti-woke, law and order, nationalist, populist, and traditionalist force that many people are increasingly drawn to.

Sanchez specifically cited the horrific crisis at the southern border as the rationale for her switch, stating, ‘There is an unprecedented crisis at our southern border. I believe that the GOP’s policies of law and order protecting safety, and backing the blue best align with my values and the values of the citizens of Kleberg County. I look forward to working with my colleagues to keep South Texas safe.’

Sanchez’s party switch is part of a much larger trend in South Texas where voters are increasingly siding with the Republican Party after decades of loyalty to the Democrats. Southern Texas is historically one of the more reliably blue sections of the Lone Star State, being heavily Latino but now, we are seeing southern Texas turning more red. In June 2021, several mayoral races in Southern Texas in their highly Blue Democrat districts, and to the shock of politicians and pundits alike, the GOP swept every single one of them.

The most shocking win of them all was in McAllen Texas, which is 85% Latino, and where no Republican has won since 1997. The GOP candidate Javier Villalobos beat his Democrat challenger in a region that had voted for Biden by nearly 20 points. In November of that year, a Texas House seat in a San Antonio district that is 73% Latino which voted for Biden by 14 points flipped for a conservative Republican, a flip that represented a 15-point shift towards the Republicans in that district alone. Additionally, at the special congressional election the following year Republican Mayra Flores flipped a Texas House seat that had been Democrat for decades. Sanchez’s defection is part of a larger trend of southern Texas going Republican, and that trend is itself part of the larger trend among Latinos who are increasingly defecting to the Republican Party.

Even the ultra-left Washington Post is admitting this. Trump won half the Latino vote in Florida back in 2020. He improved his performance among Hispanics by 20 points in Wisconsin, 18 points in Texas, and 12 points in Arizona and Pennsylvania. Overall, Democrats lost their margin of the Latino vote by 18 points between 2016 and 2020. That’s a huge shift, and it’s only grown. This is because we now have data that shows that the Democrats are hemorrhaging support from the non-white working class. The non-white working class, which is overwhelmingly Latino, is a voter demographic that voted for Obama by a margin of an astonishing 70%. As we speak, Biden leads with non-white working-class voters by just over 10%! That is a devastating loss of a demographic that was once perhaps the most loyal Democrat voter of them all.

The more woke the Democrat Party gets, the more they lose these voters and the more populist, nationalist, and traditionalist the Republican Party gets, the more these voters are defecting to the GOP. The Washington Free Beacon has just published an astonishing report that found that over the last 20 years, four times as many Democratic state lawmakers have switched to the Republican Party than the other way around. 83 Democratic legislators have defected and joined the GOP since 1994, compared with only 23 Republicans who became Democrats. Five of those blue-to-red switches happened just this year. The latest to do so is Georgia state legislator Mesha Mainor, who just a few weeks ago announced her switch from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party. Mainor said that she had finally had it when she received severe retribution from woke Democrats after she supported a school choice bill that had over 70% support.

She supported what 70% of voters supported, but it went against the ultra-woke norms of dictating to parents what their kids are supposed to learn, so she was, in her words, ‘crucified for that support!’ So state legislator Mesha Mainor has now joined the Republicans. The larger point here is that she’s hardly alone. According to this report, nearly 100 lawmakers over the last two decades have been defecting from the Democrats and joining up with the Republicans. Just a couple of months ago, 4 Democrats in a row defected and joined the GOP in one month.

This is all part of a pattern where Democrats are defecting to the Republican Party at a rate of 4 to 1. That’s an astonishing discrepancy and one that’s remained constant over the last 20 years. This is happening as Republicans this year upended a decades-long trend in terms of voter identification. The latest Gallup poll on political self-identification, as of right now, has 45% of the public identifying as Republicans, while only 42% consider themselves Democrats. Henry Olsen of the Washington Post observed that the Republicans have led or been tied with Democrats in these partisan self-identification polls only twice in the last 90 years. The GOP is going through a major transition; the Republican Party is fast becoming the anti-woke, law-and-order party. It’s a party that is becoming thoroughly nationalist, populist, and traditionalist, and it’s only a matter of time before its leadership makes that transition as well.
