Imagine the legacy media, the loyal gatekeepers for "team blue," suddenly, over the last 48 hours, media outlet after media outlet has started to overtly blame the Democrats for the shutdown, live on air. Here’s Jon Karl of ABC News: Do my eyes and ears deceive me?, however subtle in the setup to his question to Speaker Mike Johnson, openly admitting that it was the Democrats voting against the clean funding bill, the clean continuing resolution they voted for back in March. In voting against that clean CR, it was the Democrats who forced the government to shut down! Well, I guess pigs really do fly!
Ironically, Jon Karl of ABC was not the first to admit this; a couple of weeks back, the entire editorial board of the Washington Post delivered a scathing assessment of the Democrat Party's shutdown strategy, warning it was a disaster they couldn’t reverse. The editorial board claimed the Democrats’ progressive, far-left flank led their party into what they called a "shutdown trap" set by Donald Trump. That’s exactly what the editorial is titled: "Democrats marched into a shutdown trap," and the Washington Post editorial board, again, made up of progressive leftists, argued that the far-left of the Democrat Party embraced a disastrous mentality thinking they could come out ahead in government funding standoffs. Historically, the side making demands, the side holding out, always comes out on the losing side. The majority of the public does not believe that whatever your pet issue is, even as legitimate as it might be, should be used to shut down the government. The Post's editorial board specifically criticized Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for abandoning voting for the clean CR, the clean Continuing Resolution, to bend the knee to the far-left. As a result, they hand-delivered all the power to President Trump.
The Post’s editorial board admitted that, due to the Democrat shutdown, President Donald Trump and his budget director, Russell Vought, now have extraordinary authority to choose which agencies to close, what spending to prioritize, and even which government workers to lay off. Over 4,000 federal workers have been permanently fired since the shutdown began. It’s just the beginning; they’re dismantling entire departments that are all the pet projects of Democrats! That’s why the Washington Post editorial board predicted there is no conceivable outcome with this shutdown that benefits the Democrats. This is the Washington Post, along with the New York Times, the blueprint for Democrat rule in the nation! And similarly, CNN reported: ‘Democrats set a shutdown snare for Trump, but may walk into his trap instead!’ The article admits it was the Democrats who deliberately shut down the government to lay a trap for Trump and the Republicans, only to find they themselves ended up in the trap, where Trump gets everything he could want in terms of power and control over DC, whereas the Democrats have gotten nothing! It’s a completely asymmetrical standoff!
And we can keep going: Look at this from USA Today; it’s an opinion piece that explicitly lays the blame at the feet of the Democrats! More and more people see there’s no coherence, no viable rationale for what they’re doing other than reacting in accordance with their TDS-infested far-left. Remember these were the same Democrats who insisted on shutting our entire nation down during the Covid craziness and who advocated for the mass firings of anyone who remained unvaccinated!
The legacy media is turning on the Democrats; after over three weeks of a government shutdown (that frankly nobody cares about!), a shutdown that was supposed to hurt President Trump, the polls are in, and they’re a Democrat nightmare. I mean, it doesn’t get worse than that if you’re a Democrat! Trump is now more popular than he was before the shutdown designed by Democrats to politically hurt him! That’s the definition of a backfire! And it gets worse, this headline just out: ‘Don’t count on a blue wave in the midterms, most Americans say Democrats are ‘weak.’ Again, USA Today is as mainstream legacy media as you can get, and they seem done carrying the Democrats’ water! They’re seeing polls, seeing Mike Johnson’s rye smile, seeing Trump and Russ Vought slash programs and fire federal workers, and they’re like: ‘Yo, Democrats, you need to quit while you’re behind! It’s that bad! You’re that unpopular right now!’
Trump has talked about this, they needed something for the New Kings rally this past weekend, something to rally their rank and file, and the shutdown was supposed to be it; it was supposed to galvanize a mass uprising among grassroots Democrats across the country, and of course, it didn’t. There was no point to either! The Schumer Shutdown was supposed to galvanize a grassroots resistance that was supposed to materialize this past weekend; it fell embarrassingly short, so with the No Kings flop behind them, along with their plunging poll numbers, remember, this shutdown is led by the single most unpopular senator on Capitol Hill, Chuck Schumer, with a 17 percent approval rating, so with the protest now done and gone, and Democrats suffering in the polls while Trump gains popularity, they’ll inevitably cry uncle, it’s just a matter of when, not if!

And wouldn’t it be hilarious if Trump turned around and said: ‘No, I’m not giving you back the government; I like this new power you idiot Democrats handed me! I think I’ll hold on to it indefinitely; go back to your swamp of irrelevance!’ I mean, then you’d actually be seeing the Democrats begging Trump to reopen the government. We’ll see how it plays out, but Trump is the ultimate troll, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he kept the government shutdown an extra week or two! It would be absolutely hilarious!
