Justice Department Strikes—Lemon's Legal Nightmare Begins

What if I told you that a former disgraced CNN anchor may have just committed a federal crime—live on camera—believing he was shielded by the First Amendment? Indeed, that's precisely what happened. The Justice Department has now put him on notice: charges are looming that could send him to federal prison for years.

- A mob of anti-ICE agitators stormed Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota during a worship service, terrifying families.
- Don Lemon, the former CNN anchor, filmed the event, seemingly participating in a "secret operation" called "Operation Pull Up."
- Lemon is potentially facing charges under the FACE Act and the Ku Klux Klan Act for his involvement in the disruption.

Last Sunday, many of us watched in horror as a mob of anti-ICE agitators stormed Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota during a worship service. They barged into the sanctuary, blowing whistles, chanting "ICE out," and frightening families, including children, who were simply trying to pray. But the shock didn't end there. In the midst of it all was none other than the now-jobless Don Lemon, live-streaming the chaos, and audaciously confronting the pastor to defend the protesters. Imagine if Lemon had tried to pull the same stunt in a mosque, confronting an imam under the guise of First Amendment rights. The double standards are glaring.

What the pastor didn't know was that Lemon was in on the whole thing. Before the church invasion, he was caught on camera referring to this as a "secret operation" dubbed "Operation Pull Up". Beyond Lemon's racially charged preoccupations, he was essentially documenting his own prosecution. He admitted—on camera—that he was aware of the disruption, knew the location, and deliberately embedded himself with the mob. Within hours, the Justice Department responded.

Here's where it gets serious. As Harmeet Dhillon revealed, Lemon faces charges under two acts: the FACE Act and, ironically, the Ku Klux Klan Act. The FACE Act prohibits force, threats, or physical obstruction interfering with individuals accessing reproductive health services, and is extended to cover interference with protected facilities like places of worship. Lemon and the protesters are now facing these charges, along with the Ku Klux Klan Act, which criminalizes conspiring to violate civil rights, including the First Amendment right to worship. Violations involving force or intimidation carry penalties of up to three years in federal prison, escalating to ten if bodily injury occurred. Adding KKK Act conspiracy charges could mean serious felony time.

In response, an understandably panicked Lemon posted a video, which only reinforced the case against him. He flip-flopped, claiming ignorance of the protest's intentions, despite his earlier statements. This contradiction is now obliterating his defense. Even more astonishing, Lemon couldn't stop digging his own grave.

Pop star Nikki Minaj criticized his actions, and in a bizarre twist, Lemon retorted by invoking white supremacy—a classic display of narcissism clouding judgment. As my namesake, law professor Jonathan Turley, noted, Lemon's statements could easily serve as Exhibit A for federal prosecutors. He brazenly confirmed that the worshippers were targeted for their faith, directly supporting charges under the FACE Act.

The FACE Act prohibits using or threatening force to obstruct a person exercising their First Amendment right to religious freedom. Proving intent to obstruct religious worship is challenging unless, of course, you have someone like Lemon who openly admits it on tape. Lemon explicitly criticized the congregation's theology and confessed that the disruption targeted their religious beliefs. By defending the protesters' "right to demonstrate," he unwittingly provided the smoking gun evidence that the operation aimed to suppress religious worship. This isn't civil disobedience or journalism; it's a federal crime under both the FACE Act and the Ku Klux Klan Act.

It seems Don Lemon has fallen into a legal quagmire of his own making. Remember the first rule of holes: when you're in one, stop digging. Yet, this is a rule Don Lemon, a narcissist par excellence, has ignored—and it might just land him in prison. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!
