The woke have descended into new absurdities and are again canceling JK Rowling. It’s official; she’s been canceled. It’s being widely reported that J.K. Rowling’s name and likeness have been removed from the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle due to her “hateful” anti-trans remarks.

In a March blog post from Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture, project manager Chris Moore slammed Rowling for her supposedly “hateful” comments and announced how the museum would proceed with Harry Potter-related displays. He said, “There’s a certain cold, heartless, joy-sucking entity in the world of Harry Potter and, this time, it is not a Dementor. Yes, we’re talking about J.K. Rowling, and no, we don’t like that we’re giving her more publicity, so that’s the last you’ll see of her name in this post. We’ll just stick with You-Know-Who because they’re close enough in character. Her transphobic viewpoints are front and center these days, but we can’t forget all the other ways that she’s problematic: the support of antisemitic creators, the racial stereotypes that she used while creating characters, the incredibly white wizarding world, the fat shaming, the lack of LGBTQIA+ representation, the super-chill outlook on the bigotry and othering of those that don’t fit into the standard wizarding world, and so much more.”
It is insane that a person could even begin to get brainwashed into thinking this way. This museum manager lives in a different reality from the rest of us, but unfortunately, he has the authority to cancel, and that’s exactly what he’s done. This waste-of-space museum will present all of its Harry Potter displays without any reference to Harry Potter’s creator.
This controversy started in June 2020, after Rowling posted tweets expressing concerns about the language used to discuss gender. It all started with the retweet of an op-ed piece that talked about the quote “people who menstruate,” and Rowling was astonished that the article omitted the word ‘women!’ That original tweet unleashed a torrent of trans activist backlash accusing her of transphobia. To her credit, Rowling didn’t back down. She doubled-down, saying, ‘If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.’
Rowling assumed that it was possible to have a rational discussion on this matter. That assumption could not have possibly been more wrong. The legacy media dutifully took up the cause and accused Rowling of transphobic and hateful comments, and the quest to cancel her in all ways possible has been faithfully pursued by the supposed guardians of tolerance in the West. The good news, beyond the fact that Rowling has never backed down from her comments, is that there is a very real backlash against this backlash.
The ultra-woke culture of canceling is getting canceled. More pundits are recognizing that we’re seeing nothing less than a massive backlash against woke culture going on throughout the nation.

The Atlantic has publicly labeled Elon Musk as far right, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg among legacy media outlets attempting to disparage Musk. Bill Maher is also now labeled as conservative or far-right among the woke ilk. As he alluded to, Elon once tweeted a graph that shows the dynamics of what’s commonly known as the Overton Window, which defines the range of acceptable political opinion. The graph shows how over the last 10 years, the far left has shifted the Overton Window that those who once found themselves on the center-left are now increasingly, because their politics haven’t changed, now increasingly finding themselves on the center-right.
That ultimately is the hope here. The farther left the woke mind virus takes its adherents, the greater percentage of the population they leave behind. The more political opinions the woke attempt to cancel, the more they guarantee their exile to the political periphery. Even fellow liberals are recognizing this. Kevin Drum, a former staffer for the Washington Monthly recently wrote about this, saying, “Despite endless hopeful invocations of ‘but polls show that people like our positions,’ the truth is that the Democratic Party has been pulled far enough left that even lots of non-crazy people find us just plain scary — something that Fox News takes vigorous advantage of. From an electoral point of view, the story here is consistent: Democrats have stoked the culture wars by getting more extreme on social issues and Republicans have used this to successfully cleave away a segment of both the non-college white vote and, more recently, the non-college nonwhite vote.”
Now, this was written months before the polling came out about how Democrats are indeed hemorrhaging non-white working-class voters, particularly Latinos. This is largely because of their full embracing of all things woke. The more traditionalist working class, both white and non-white, are abandoning the Democrats in droves. On top of this, there have been tens of billions of dollars lost by Bud Light, Target, and the Disney Corporation. We are seeing a massive backlash against the insanity of the woke left. Woke museum curators can continue with their latest absurd outworkings of canceled culture. In the end, the only ones they’re ultimately canceling are themselves!
